EXCLUSIVE: City and Guilds has hosted a day of massages and manicures for staff.
The organisation, which provides vocational qualifications, invited students from the London School of Beauty Therapy to come into the office to provide the services to its employees.
Chris Coyne, head of reward and HR services at City and Guilds, said: “It was positive on a number of fronts; firstly, in linking our employees directly with the people who are the purpose of our job, but also, from a wellbeing perspective.
“We try very hard to do wellbeing [initiatives] on all levels, that’s physical, mental and financial. This ticks the physical and the mental.”
The organisation included information about the event, which it also tied in to the annual opening of its flexible benefits enrolment window, in its weekly in-house newsletter.
There were a limited amount of spaces available to City and Guild’s 1,100 employees, but it managed to schedule 36 manicures and 46 massages throughout the day.
“We are definitely looking to do more of it in the future,” says Coyne. “Both sides found it helpful. It was good for the students to come in and practice on people, and staff really enjoyed it, particularly the manicures because they had a chance to talk to the people they’re working with.”
