EXCLUSIVE: KFC has launched a salary sacrifice car scheme for more than 950 eligible employees.
The restaurant chain has included an emissions cap at 130g/km to help improve the organisation’s green credentials and help employees to make tax savings.
The current lowest tax band, of 5%, is applied to all cars emitting 75g/km of carbon dioxide or less. This will drop to 50g/km for the 2014/15 tax year.
The scheme, provided by Leasedrive, was introduced as a result of employee feedback.
KFC also felt it was important to offer the benefit to staff travelling to and from training and meetings across the UK, because the organisation does not allow employees to use their own cars on business.
Andrea Talreja, reward manager at KFC, said: “We introduced the scheme to give employees the opportunity to make greater savings where possible.
“We cannot give everyone a company car, but salary sacrifice allows employees to make savings on a brand new car.
“So far, those who have ordered have made substantial savings on national insurance and tax.”
Employees are able to purchase a car through KFC’s flexible benefits portal, which is open throughout the year.
The organisation will continue to communicate the benefit throughout the year to boost take up.
Talreja added: “There was initial excitement among employees from the launch and, from feedback, it was clear that a lot of restaurant general managers wanted the benefit.
“It was our opportunity to deliver a benefit employees wanted, and we have.”
