Workplace pensions go a bit furry…

It’s not often that the opportunity presents itself for something light-hearted – but the DWP’s new pension awareness campaign is one such moment.

For last week the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) unleashed a large blue furry monster into the world of Workplace Savings. Workie will be seeking to raise awareness of workplace pensions, and in particular the employer duty to assess and enrol eligible staff into a suitable pension scheme. Full details of the campaign and a chance to view the advert are available via this link.

And with the first showing of the advert having taken place between Emmerdale and Corrie, there is every possibility that this campaign may just achieve its aims. It is likely that many more of the estimated 1.8 million smaller employers in the UK who are yet to enrol will soon be alerted to the need to take action. Evidence from the larger organisations who have already met this duty is that early planning is strongly advisable.

We would urge employers who have yet to comply with the new duties to take urgent action. For more information please speak to you usual Jelf consultant in the first instance. Alternatively, please visit our workplace pensions and savings website for more info.
