Over a third of all Scottish cases that are referred to the Employment Tribunal are related to equal pay, according to figures by HM Courts and Tribunal Service.
The figures show that 10,000 cases were brought before the tribunal relating to issues of equal pay. The data was released following a request by Scottish pay and reward consultancy Ashworth Black.
Lorna Ashworth, managing director at the organisation, said: “These figures show Scottish companies and employers still have some way to go to ensure parity across their employees.
“As part of good business planning, companies should consider risk management procedures and, in relation to equal pay, proactively undertake an equal pay audit.”
