Celebrating great people doing great workThe Employee Awards is the first national awards scheme that recognises and celebrates great people doing great work, enabling colleagues and bosses to pay tribute. It is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company with employees at its heart.
PRODUCTSWe believe that every employee deserves to be recognised. It’s not about where you work, but how you work. The Employee Awards will raise awareness of the vital role of individual employees in bringing success to their employers.
It’s not just about the “star” achievers but recognising the efforts of the ordinary unsung hero of the workplace. As part of our programme we have initiated The Year of the Employee 2018, an important step in focussing on the vital role of employees in the success of the UK economy.
In June 2018, we will be introducing the Employer Roll of Honour, highlighting enlightened leading employers before the first The Employee Awards ceremony takes place in November 2018.
BACKGROUNDBritain has suffered a collapse in productivity. We are now 15% less productive per employee than our EU competitors and have had a meagre growth of just 1.4% in the last 10 years
So what’s going wrong? Employees are the lifeblood of the UK Economy yet they can often feel undervalued and are rarely shown appreciation for their conscientious efforts and loyal commitment.
Our extensive research reveals that the majority of employees feel undervalued and are not recognised or appreciated by their employers. This needs to be addressed.
There are a plethora of awards programmes to celebrate the success of business. Yet, until now, there hasn’t been a national award scheme to recognise exceptional individuals nationally across all sectors.
MARKET RESEARCHOur National Employee market research provides insight into the major impact that poor employee recognition has had on the UK’s abysmal productivity record over the last decade.
Some of the key findings from this market research include:
- 55% of employees do not feel recognised by their employers
- Over 50% judged that their employer culture was not good and a similar percentage felt they were neither appreciated or valued
- Yet over 90% of employees said that employee recognition was important to them
- Alarmingly the research showed that over 50% of employees will be seeking alternative employment in 2018
- The message for employers is most disturbing as the cost of recruiting and training replacement employees is both costly and a major obstacle to improving productivity and profitability.
