Asset management organisation Schroders is introducing a permanent flexible working policy for over 5,000 of its global employees, to deal with the shift in working expectations due to the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.
The policy, which also benefits 2,500 UK-based employees, allows staff to continue working remotely indefinitely, as long as they work the hours per their contracts.
Employees will be asked to set out a work rota detailing which days they would they would like to work remotely. Employees will have the option to work from home full-time or on a part-time basis, allowing them the flexibility to work at one of its locations if they prefer a home/office balance.
Schroders follows in the footsteps of organisations such as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), Facebook, Fujitsu, and Uber, which have all adopted flexible working policies permanently, or at least until 2021.
A spokesperson at Schroders said: "This is a shift toward a new way of working due to the effects of the pandemic. The office will not be abandoned but we will offer employees the opportunity to choose how much they want to work from home."
