Almost three-quarters (74%) of small and mirco employers with pension issues want support from intermediaries.
According to the research from Nest, the government-backed auto-enrolment pension scheme for UK employers, employers also expect support from the outset, with many expecting help as soon as they begin preparations.
Many also require ongoing support, with 60% expecting help with administration on an ongoing basis.
The research found that only 23% of small and mirco employers feel confident about dealing with pensions issues, and 74% of such employers do not currently offer a pension to their workforce.
Large volumes of employers are looking for support, intended to turn to an independent financial adviser (IFA), with around 5,000 expecting support from an IFA in 2015.
Approximately 45,000 small and micro employers are set to stage in 2015, high level of demand and opportunity is expected in the intermediary sector.
Nest unveiled a new free tool for intermediaries, Nest Connect, for those working with high volumes of employers.
Tim Jones, chief executive officer of Nest said: “This research clearly shows that 2015 employers want help. Around 33,000 employers are going to be keeping the intermediary community very busy in 2015.”
Laurence Sanderson, IFA at Sterling & Law added: “Automatic-enrolment is going to get seriously hectic. There won’t be time for traditional wet signatures and terms going back and forward.”
