EXCLUSIVE: Originem plans to comply with the auto-enrolment legislation from October, well ahead of its staging date in September 2013.

The outsourced recruitment company is the employer of record for about 900 temporary and contract staff, which it places with UK organisations in the construction, education, healthcare and IT industries.

Chris Clowes, group managing director at Originem, said: “While a worker is on assignment, we are responsible for absolutely everything to do with their employment liability, HR, payroll, tax, legal or insurance issues.”

The organisation is getting a head start on its auto-enrolment duties to encourage its employer clients to learn how the process works and to get ahead of the competition.

Clowes added: “From a longer-term perspective, we will get the learning of going through the process, so employers we work with will not have to go through the pain of doing it when [they reach] their staging date.”

Originem plans to use a pension scheme provided by Now:Pensions. It currently offers a stakeholder scheme, which has a take-up of only 5%.

Originem is being advised by AWD Chase de Vere.
