According to the Employee Benefits/Towers Watson Flexible Benefits Research 2014, the vast majority of respondents (83%) now use an online portal to communicate flex to their employees.

In 2013 and 2012, this communication method appeared in third place.

Employers are also increasing their use of new media, such as mobile phone apps and social media, to communicate flex, although this is from a relatively small base.

More traditional communication methods also remain popular, with three-quarters of respondents placing written detail on their internet or intranet site, 74% using the offer letter or starter pack issued to new joiners, and 64% using leaflets, brochures or booklets.

This is in line with previous years, when these three options consistently topped the list of popular flex communication methods.
