Aviva widens flexible benefits scheme

Aviva is to extend its flexible benefits scheme to an additional 4,700 employees and will launch a voluntary benefits plan.

When the flex scheme’s annual enrolment period opens next month, it will be extended to 4,000 employees at Aviva-owned roadside recovery firm RAC and 700 staff in Aviva’s fund management business, Aviva Investors.

The company has also added a payroll-giving scheme to its flexible benefits plan for this year’s launch. Staff are also being encouraged to donate pennies that appear on their salaries to charity through a ‘Pennies from heaven’ scheme.

Employees’ selection through the flexible benefits scheme, which is branded ‘My Aviva flex’ and is administered by Hewitt Associates, will take effect from the beginning of July.

Aviva has also launched an online voluntary benefits scheme, branded ‘My Aviva extras’, which is provided by Asperity Employee Benefits.

Elliot Rees-Davies, the company’s head of reward, said the changes were driven by demand from employees. “We have had feedback from staff that our reward package was all well and good, but people wanted a bit more.”
