Brian Cunningham, general manager – insurance at BMW (UK) answers question about what it means to win two Employee Benefits’ awards.

BMW (UK) was awarded the Grand Prix at the Employee Benefits Awards 2013, and was also recognised for its mental health and wellbeing services as winner of best stress management programme.

1. What has winning an Employee Benefits’ award meant to you?

From our point of view, it is the prestige of being recognised by our peers. This recognition reinforces the belief that what BMW is offering our employees is both unique and special. It allows us to go back to the business with external validation to the message that what we offer our employees is truly market leading.

2. What have you done to communicate the win to your organisation and to employees?

We have communicated our success via a number of different channels: our staff Infonet, email notification to all employees, and I was personally given a slot at our quarterly business briefing (attended by all head office staff) to present details of our success, not only in winning two awards, but also being a short-listed finalist in four categories.

3. What has the award meant to the organisation and to employees?

I believe that people around the organisation are proud to work for a company like BMW, a company that places such emphasis on the health and wellbeing of all our employees.

4. What would you say to other employers to encourage them to enter the Employee Benefits Awards 2014?

I believe the awards are a great opportunity for employers to showcase the suite of benefits that they offer their employees and, perhaps more importantly, gain insight into what other organisations offer.

Enter the Employee Benefits Awards 2014. The entry deadline is 18 December 2013.
