Zurich Financial Services has introduced a salary sacrifice scheme for food in its on-site restaurants and mole screening for staff.
To gain discounts on food in the company's on-site canteens, staff can put money onto their 'ZEDCard' via a salary sacrifice arrangement. They then swipe the card at kiosks in the workplace canteen in order to make tax and national insurance savings on food and drink.
So far, more than 900 of the firm's 8,898 employees have taken up the scheme.
Pete Steer, UK HR, payroll and benefits director, said: "The government has not [yet] changed the legislation here and we saw this scheme as a platform to improve our benefits and provide a convenient way for people to get food and drink at work through salary sacrifice."
Employees who wish to take up the mole screening benefit, meanwhile, can book an appointment with provider firm Lifescan at one of seven regional clinics.
In addition, the financial services firm has added two new dental plan options to its three existing schemes that offer employees dental cover for their family or dependants. Later this year, Zurich also plans to issue staff with total reward statements.
