Something for the weekend…

What do Pluto, Gnasher, Lassie and Scooby-Doo all have in common? They are all workplace productivity boosters.

According to employment services organisation Parasol, our four-legged friends can have a positive impact on an employee’s work.

The pooch-loving employer enjoyed its best day of results in four years when bosses invited staff to bring their dogs to work.

Parasol’s starter team secured its highest number of contractor employee registrations in a single day since 2010, thanks to the added canine presence.

Call response times in Parasol’s employee support team also improved compared to previous Fridays.

The initiative has proved so successful that the organisation has extended the scheme.

Derek Kelly, managing director at Parasol, said: “We thought a bring-your-dog-to-work day would improve morale, but we didn’t expect it to boost productivity too.

“To be honest, I was a bit concerned that having dogs running around the office would serve as a distraction, but it seems the opposite is true.

However, if employees find hounds on YouTube like the star of Cute Dog versus Leafblower this may have an adverse effect on productivity.
