Independent bakery Warburtons is in the process of forming a reward strategy after appointing its first reward manager last year.
It currently only offers benefits to its senior employees, apart from an employee-paid cash plan introduced for all staff last year. It is now looking at introducing other benefits for the whole of its 4,500-strong workforce.
Childcare vouchers and a voluntary benefits scheme are two options due to be introduced this year by the new reward manager Anne Williamson, who said: "[I am] hoping childcare vouchers will be brought in within the next three months. [With] voluntary benefits I am looking towards the summer."
According to the results of a staff survey which was carried out last November, employees indicated they would also value policies around work-life balance. "There is more work to be done there in terms of what we need to put in," added Williamson.
