Just under a third (31%) of employers reward their staff for working overtime, according to global research, Working Long Hours by international recruitment consultancy Robert Walters.
The survey reports that only 11% of UK employers offer overtime pay to their employees, while 9% offer time off in lieu and career recognition and progression for the extra hours worked. Just 1.5% provide lifestyle gifts such as dinner vouchers to recognise the extra effort of employees.
The findings also show that, on a worldwide scale, Japan and the UK are most likely to reward overtime with pay, while Australia and New Zealand will generally offer time off in lieu as a reward for overtime.
