Traidcraft launches employer-paid cash plan

Fair-trade organisation Traidcraft has launched an employer-paid healthcare cash plan to maintain the health of its staff.

The cash plan, provided by HealthSure, were introduced to all 153 UK-based employees in July in a bid to ensure they are fit to carry out their jobs, which often involve placements abroad.

Through the cash plan, staff will receive cash back for dental and optical appointments, as well as physiotherapy, chiropody and complementary therapies. Traidcraft will fund the full cost of the premiums, which start at £1 a week per employee.

Christine Borley, director of human resources at Traidcraft, said: "We wanted to introduce a low-cost solution to deliver a comprehensive health benefit, which can be enjoyed by all 153 staff, regardless of position."
