Thanet District Council has launched a voluntary benefits scheme to its 600 staff in order to provide more non-monetary perks.

The online scheme launched in July, incorporates a number of local discounts within Thanet and around Kent as well as with national retailers. Staff can shop online at 1,500 retailers and receive cash back into their personal bank accounts.

The council is reviewing its benefits offering and is considering adding more benefits through salary sacrifice in the future.

The organisation, which is responsible for frontline services such as waste collection in the Thanet area, communicated the new scheme through road shows and presentations as well as branded coasters on desks or lorry cabs.

Employees are encouraged to use the scheme online and can access the reward web page at home, in council offices or public libraries.

The scheme is being administered by Kent County Council.
