Something for the weekend…

In need of a pay rise? Well, it’s time to get sweaty, according to researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

New research by academics Ashley D Brown and Jared R Curhan, published in the journal Psychological Science, found that signs of physiological arousal (such as sweating) isn’t always detrimental.

Results from an experiment which assessed participants while they negotiated an employment compensation package suggested that physiological arousal may even enhance the negotiating abilities of those with positive attitudes toward negotiation.

So if you begin to notice an odd whiff from a colleague, maybe it’s because they’re looking to boost their earning power.
