Surrey County Council has launched a telephone service which staff can call anonymously to report bullying or harassment at work.
The council hopes that the help line, will enable staff to report bullying, harassment and criminal activity in the workplace if they are not confident to take their complaints to their head of service.
The telephone service, which is provided by Expolink, has trained called handlers who will not ask staff for their names or numbers, but provides callers with a reference number so that they can call back with more information. The report from calls will then be passed on to authorised county council staff.
Chief executive at Surrey County Council, Richard Shaw, said: "We are launching this reporting hotline as part of our investing in staff strategy and our commitment to listening to employee concerns. We want to hear about staff concerns so that we can improve the way Surrey County Council does its business."
