Standard Life is extending its green travel scheme, and adding foreign language classes and online identity theft protection to its flexible benefits options.
More than 5,000 staff in its Edinburgh office will have the option to purchase a yearly travel card covering 25 bus companies and save tax and national insurance contributions (NIC) via the scheme.
Previously, employees in Edinburgh received a tax break for travel to work with one bus company, but Standard Life wanted to make the scheme available to more members of staff as part of its green agenda.
Staff will also have the option to sign up for discounted online identity theft protection. This will enable them to view and challenge credit reports and keep them updated of any transactions.
Edinburgh-based staff will also be able to study French, German, Italian or Spanish with a tax and NIC break. Allan Muir, compensation consultant at Standard Life, said: "We are not aware of anyone else offering a benefit like this."
The new benefits go live from June except for the language classes, which start in September.
