Standard Life has released a statement on its earlier suspension of Gerry O'Neil.
O'Neil, the former managing director of corporate solutions, was suspended in mid-May.
He had joined Standard Life in October 2008 when Vebnet, where he was chief executive, was acquired.
The statement from Standard Life said: "Gerry O'Neil has decided to leave Standard Life to pursue other interests.The recent internal investigation concerning Gerry has now reached a conclusion and Standard Life has decided that no further action will be taken.
"We would like to reassure advisers and customers that there has been no impact on our operations as a result of this process and there will be no impact in future."
In relation to James Verner, sales director at Vebnet, who was also suspended pending investigation, Standard Life said: "The position with James Verner remains unchanged."
