Standard Life has announced the launch of a new, flexible and cost-efficient personal health insurance product.

The product allows individuals to build a plan that is tailored to their specific needs. All policies are built around a core module which provides full cover for in-patient and day-patient treatment, hospital charges, consultants’ fees, diagnostic and monitoring tests. It also provides in and out-patient cover for cancer, as well as major outpatient scans.

Employees can then choose to enhance their plan with additional cover options including three levels of out-patient treatment, maternity cover, travel insurance, dental cover, psychiatric treatment, health screening and additional therapies.

Having selected their benefits, staff have the option to flex their plan with features such as an excess and/or the choice of hospitals where they prefer to receive treatment. This is designed to give people more control over the level of premiums they pay.

It also allows staff to choose the type of underwriting that is applied to their policy – from a moratorium to full medical underwriting.

Ronjit Bose, head of healthcare product at Standard Life, said: “At Standard Life we believe that it is important to give our customers the flexibility to pick and choose the cover that suits their needs."
