Spanish firefighters strip to protest against pay cuts

The economy is biting in nearly every country in the world, resulting in cuts to pay and bonuses for many, and protests against austerity measures are nothing new.

However, few employees will resort to a striptease to get their point across.

But eight Spanish firefighters from Mieres, in northern Spain, stripped to just their helmets and boots to protest against government cuts to public sector wages and Christmas bonuses.

The men posed in front of a banner bearing the message: “With so many cuts we have been left naked”.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror, one of the firefighters, Javier Piedra, said: “Eight firefighters who show their ass are worth more than a protest through the streets against cuts.”
