The Southdown Housing Association is launching a cycle-to-work scheme to help with employee’s travel after an office move.

The bikes are available to approximately 301 full-time employees and 380 part-time employees on a salary sacrifice basis of monthly payments.

Janet Casserley, HR services manager, said: “We’ve just moved offices and it seemed like quite a good benefit for people if they needed to cycle to work.”

To buy the bike at the end of the first year, the employee only has to pay a £10 administration charge.
Casserley explained: “We can actually charge employees at the end of the year the price that we think bike is now worth but we decided that wasn’t fair and we didn’t want our employees to suffer a detriment in any way or have to pay seeing as they had paid all year for it. We’re just going to charge them the £10 administration fee.”
