Shaw Trust has extended its voluntary benefits scheme in order to help improve employee health and wellbeing.

The charity, which employs 1,400 staff in the UK, has added discounted gym membership to the scheme along with health and wellbeing-related perks, such as vouchers for Halfords, discounted holidays with Thomas Cook and leisure days out.

The scheme, provided by Incorpore, was implemented in February following a staff survey that revealed employees wanted access to more health-related perks.

Julie King, HR partner, projects at Shaw Trust, said the website received more than 300 hits in the first week following its launch. "[The scheme] fits with what we are trying to achieve in terms of health and wellbeing. If staff are not interested in going to the gym, there are other health-focused benefits they can make use of."
