Schroders, the assest management company, has introduced online flexible benefits after consulting with staff to determine which perks they would value. Employees made their selections in the scheme last month. Rob Levine, compensation and benefits manager, said that he is happy with the initial response. "Around 900 employees have made choices, from the 1,150 who could take part, which to us makes for a successful launch."
Levine attributed much of the scheme's success to the way in which it has been communicated to staff, although he admitted that marketing to staff at Schroders was perhaps easier than for some other companies. "The fact that we are pretty much all based in the City makes internal communication easier.
Most of it was done via the intranet and employee presentations. Employees can also look at their benefits online at any time, as details are also on the internet," he added. The scheme includes benefits such as dental cover, a bikes for work scheme, discounts in Schroders' onsite cafe, an income protection plan, personal accident insurance and holiday trading.
