Employees at Quorum Business Park were encouraged to use alternative means of travelling to work as part of a week-long campaign to raise awareness of sustainable transport.

The annual Go smarter campaign coincided with European Mobility Week, between 16-22 September, and prompted employees to travel by foot, bike or public transport.

The Newcastle-based business park includes organisations such as Balfour Beatty, Convergys, HM Revenue and Customs, IBM and Tesco Bank.

Activities that took place during the week included a pub crawl, during which participants travelled for free on public transport while taking part in a quiz, a group bike ride and free on-site bicycle maintenance checks.

Laura McVittie, commuter centre manager at Quorum Business Park, said: “Promoting a healthy lifestyle with our employees is a key part of the park’s ethos and the activities we have organised for Go smarter week form just some of the 300 onsite events we have planned throughout the year.

“There is the potential to see up to 8,000 people working on the park daily, so we are continually providing support and guidance about different travel choices available to commuters.”
