The Private Health Partnership has launched an employee support scheme that provides advice and healthcare counselling.

The product, which can be used alongside group medical insurance or as a standalone service, provides support for employees and their families.

The benefit includes a serious illness service to provide support when a family member is diagnosed with a serious health condition or long-term disability such as cancer, a heart condition or chronic arthritis. Free access is given to a personal nurse adviser who provides services such as, a home visit; a course of therapy and a programme of specialist counselling.

There is also a 24-hour telephone helpline staffed by professional nurses and advisers who can assist with health and stress problems as well provide financial and legal advice.

Jan Lawson, managing director, said: "Employee welfare is important to many employers and for us to bring together medical insurance with a counselling and advice facility, particularly for serious illness, was a logical step."
