Private medical insurance (PMI) tops the list of benefits most valued by employees at accountancy firm KPMG. A benefits survey answered by 2,300 of its 10,000 employees also showed that its bikes for work scheme is its least popular perk and staff would most like to receive discounted broadband as an additional benefit. Cheryl Curtis, reward manager, said: "The PMI was not a surprise as it is a core benefit and it allows employees to change the benefit depending on individual circumstances. The bikes scheme we hope will grow. "Although it is interesting to see which existing benefits are popular, our main thrust is to bear in mind that we have a very diverse workforce, and our benefits need to reflect this," explained Curtis. Going forward, KPMG is looking to act upon the different benefit ideas that were put forward by staff, which included requests for pensions advice. "We have to look at these ideas and work out whether they are practical. I think we will look to introduce broadband, but will check [out] some sort of corporate discount," explained Curtis.
