Philips has rebranded its flexible benefits plan for its 2,300 UK employees to better reflect changes to the company's business structure. It has also switched providers.

Philips' new scheme, Identity, carries the strapline 'It's all about you' and has been rebranded in line with the firm's organisational structure, which was simplified into three sectors - healthcare, lighting and consumer lifestyle - in January 2008.

Nina Platt, reward manager for the UK and Ireland and South Africa, said: "In the present economic climate, we did not have additional cash to put into the scheme, but we felt it needed a fresh, new look because it was eight years old.

"In that time, Philips had changed enormously. The old branding we had on our flex scheme was not really consistent with the kind of organisation we are now."

Last month, the consumer goods firm also moved away from its flex provider of eight years and entered into a new arrangement with Benefex.

Subsidised gym membership was also added to the scheme.

Staff were informed of the changes through various communication channels two weeks before the scheme's enrolment period opened. Communication included posters, email and desk drops, as well as brochures.

Individual letters providing information on how to access the flex website were sent to factory staff, who do not have access to the internet at work. Benefits roadshows to promote the flex scheme were also held at two of Philips' biggest sites.
