Delegates at Employee Benefits Connect will learn what skills they need to tackle future challenges and adapt to the changing role of benefits professionals.
Philip Hutchinson (pictured), head of reward at Aker Solutions, will lead a session titled Are you fit for the future: How the role of the benefits manager is evolving at Employee Benefits Connect on 27 February.
He said: “What is driving the change? The ageing workforce, an organisation’s increased focus on investment, rising costs, driving continuous improvement, mergers and acquisitions and globalisation.
“Benefits managers have to make sure they get it right. It used to be a more paternalistic approach, but the new role is moving away from that and it’s about managing the expectations of the employee.”
Hutchinson, along with Michael Illert, a partner at HR recruitment specialists Frazer Jones, will address a range of other issues during the session, including:
- The main challenges for benefit managers today compared to five years ago.
- What candidate profiles are required for benefits manager roles today.
- The development of the benefits professionals’ roles in Europe compared to the UK.
Hutchinson added: “Delegates will walk away with an understanding of the skills they need.
“Modern benefits managers need to understand about these things. They need to go away and have education about benefits administration. It’s central to any changes.”
Employee Benefits Connect will be held at the Westminster Park Plaza in London on 27 February.
