The salary levels of financial directors, tax managers and payroll managers working in small to-medium-sized UK organisations differ little from those in larger firms.
Financial directors and chief financial officers with more than 15 years' experience and working for organisations with 250 staff or fewer earn average salaries in excess of £80,000. Whereas those who work for organisations with more than 250 staff earn in excess of £90,000, according to the Robert Half Global financial salary guide 2008.
Tax managers with three to five years' experience and who are working in organisations with 250 employees or fewer, expect to earn between £40,000 and £50,000, compared to tax managers working in organisations with more than 250 staff, who earn between £50,000 and £60,000.
