Since Ovo Energy introduced a flexible benefits scheme in September, it has achieved a take up of 80% among its nearly 100 staff.

As part of its Instant Flex package, which is provided by Benefex, the benefits available in the market were reviewed against Ovo Energy’s demographics and employee feedback.

Heather Andrews, HR/recruitment manager at Ovo Energy, said: “We did a survey to decide what employees most valued as a benefit and then [Benefex] was able to work our five favourites into the scheme.”

Through the scheme employees can choose from a variety of benefits including childcare vouchers, bikes for work, holiday trading, health cash plans, health screening, and discounts and cashback in a variety of high street shops.

The organisation has also outsourced all scheme administration and an employee helpdesk, which removes the administrative burden from Ovo Energy. This had been a large obstacle for implementing flex in the past.
