EXCLUSIVE: NSK Bearings has extended its voluntary benefits programme to 590 additional employees at its Newark, Nottinghamshire site.

The programme, which was initially launched in July 2011 at the manufacturer’s Durham site, had achieved participation of around 50% among its 300 staff.

The Peterlee programme was re-launched in September 2013.

Steve Metcalfe, HR manager at NSK Bearings, said: “Although we had a solid start, with 50% participation, we wanted to see the programme have more usage.”

The voluntary benefits scheme, provided by Personal Group, includes retail discounts, leisure vouchers, a dining card, holiday discounts and experience days.

The re-launch of the Peterlee programme and the launch of the Newark programme were communicated via newsletter, as well as a new website to encourage higher participation.

Metcalfe added: “Through regular communications from Personal Group, we will continue to educate our employees to factor in the potential savings by charging up reloadable cards and ordering vouchers before they go shopping.

“My aim is for 80% participation. Getting our employees to realise just how much they can save by using their benefits is key.”
