The National Housing Federation has appointed accountancy firm KPMG as its pensions partner.

The partnership will allow the federation to offer its members guidance and assistance on pension issues, such as the introduction of auto-enrolment, pensions tax changes, and the latest valuations of the Local Government Pension Scheme and Social Housing Pension Scheme.

Stuart Ropke, assistant director of research and futures at the National Housing Federation, said: “We have been working closely with KPMG over the past 18 months and believe that the formal appointment will allow us to use the firm’s expertise to offer our members the guidance and assistance they require and enable us to influence key decision makers in the sector.”

Steve Simkins, head of public sector pensions at KPMG, added: “I am delighted to continue our work with the federation as its pensions partner.

“Our work with many social housing [employers] gives us a useful sector perspective. We have identified ways in which the sector can manage its collective pensions exposure with assets well in excess of £5 billion, and believe that a partnership approach stands to bring significant efficiencies.”
