The number of employers that have started planning for the implementation of auto-enrolment has risen from 60% in 2011 to 83% in 2012, according to research by consultancy Aon Hewitt.
Its Benefits administration survey 2012, which polled more than 320 pensions, compensation and benefits managers, found that 13% of organisations have still not started planning for the implementation of auto-enrolment.
The research also found:
- 25% of respondents still do not know the costs involved in complying with auto-enrolment.
- 35% of respondents are unsure when their staging date is for auto-enrolment.
- 42% of respondents expect 90% of employees entered into a new pension scheme to remain in it once enrolled.
Geraldine Brassett, client director in benefits administration at Aon Hewitt, said: “It is encouraging to see a marked increase in the number of employers planning for the implementation of auto-enrolment, despite evidence that there is uncertainty about when their staging dates may fall.”
