And now something for the weekend …

Most employees find their own feet when they move abroad for work, but American expatriates at technology giant Microsoft have been given a guide to Great Britian to help them fit in.

The employer handed out a 44-page manual of tips on adapting to life across the Atlantic for staff transferring to the organisation’s offices in England.

The booklet informs our cousins across the pond that ‘chippies’ are fast food stores that ‘serve a treat of fish fried in a crispy batter’, while pubs are ‘homely places full of character (and characters)’.

It also has a passages devoted to how to use the Post Office, going to A&E (known as the ER by Americans) and how to shop at Argos.

We wonder what Microsoft tells its British employees about life in the US?
