Liverpool-based provider expands offering as Day-One sick pay reshapes employer priorities

Medicash has expanded its health and wellbeing offering as it targets one million policyholders by 2030 and responds to rising employer demand for preventative solutions.

The Liverpool-headquartered provider is launching Remedi, a new digital wellbeing plan, alongside enhancements to its Proactive health cash plan and additional benefits for all corporate policyholders. The changes take effect from 5 May 2026.

The changes, effective 5 May 2026, are designed to support employers dealing with Day-One Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) under the Employment Rights Act 2025, which is expected to increase both the cost and operational impact of employee absence.

Ill health already costs the UK economy an estimated £150 billion annually, with employees taking an average of 9.4 sick days per year, according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

At the centre of the expansion is Remedi, a digital-first plan for organisations with 500+ employees, priced at £1.95 per employee per month. The product provides access to a range of app-based health services, with an optional Virtual GP add-on available.

New services include digital vision checks, menopause support and neurodevelopment pathways, reflecting growing demand for more inclusive and preventative workplace health support.

These services will also be rolled out across Medicash’s Proactive plan and made available to all corporate policyholders at no additional cost.

Andrew Healy MBE, Chief Executive of Medicash, said: “As businesses adapt to Day-One Statutory Sick Pay, the focus is shifting towards preventing absence rather than managing it. This creates an opportunity for scalable, preventative solutions that help employers manage both cost and productivity.”

Medicash has also enhanced its HealthLens service with unlimited scans and wearable integration, alongside expanded content in its mProve YOURSELF app, including nutrition, men’s health and guided exercise.

The expansion forms part of the company’s wider growth strategy, supported by continued investment in its Liverpool base and digital capabilities, as demand for accessible, cost-effective workplace health support continues to grow.
