McDonald’s Restaurants has increased the circulation of its total reward statements (TRS) to improve staff understanding of benefits.

The company sent the annual paper statements to the home addresses of more than 900 senior employees in May. This is double the number of staff included last year and involved restaurant managers for the first time. All area managers and senior staff including directors also received statements.

The design of the TRS, which are provided by Vebnet, has also been updated to include ‘post-it notes’ with personalised reminders on key facts, dates and contact information. The documents detail employees’ full package of pay, benefits and long-term incentives.

Neal Blackshire, benefits and compensation manager, said: “The next challenge is to extend the TRS to all our staff, but we would have to consider an online platform.”
