Marriott Hotels has revamped its voluntary benefits package to make it more relevant to the needs of its workforce, following a staff survey.
In the employee benefits survey last summer, staff were asked which perks they would like to be offered. The three most popular suggestions were implemented in January, and some of the least popular existing perks were removed from the scheme.
New to the plan are a cycle-to-work scheme offered via salary sacrifice, high-street shopping discounts, and a give-as-you-earn payroll-giving scheme enabling employees to make tax-free charitable donations.
Sarah Newsome, Marriott's director of compensation and benefits, said the additions reflected the ethos of the business. "We have always been a very ethical company and work hard to support the environment and community, so this was high on the agenda for our benefits provision," she said.
Marriott promoted the changes using a poster campaign, and all 8,000 eligible UK staff received a benefits booklet and a flyer in their payslip.
The new perks were also featured on the company's branded reward website, which was redesigned to coincide with the changes.
