The London Borough of Hillingdon has appointed Capita Hartshead to provide a range of services to its local government pension scheme (LGPS).

The appointment is part of the LGPS Administration Framework agreement, set up in October 2011 by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham in conjunction with the London Borough of Brent.

The range of services that will be provided, which will benefit 17,000 employees, include: administration, communications, pensions payroll, cashflow monitoring, benefits consulting and mortality screening.

Paul Whaymand, chief finance officer at London Borough of Hillingdon, said: “The upcoming changes to the LGPS will be complex, costly and time consuming to implement, so we decided it was time to look at all of our options.

“Capita Hartshead has a proven track record of LGPS administration and the framework agreement offers a quick and cost-effective way for us to access these services.”
