The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has appointed Lawrence Churchill as the first designate chair of the National Employee Saving Trust (Nest) Corporation.
From now until Nest Corporation is launched on 5 July, Lawrence will be chair designate and an advisor to the Secretary of State. Initially, he will focus on recruiting further trustees, including a deputy chair. Alongside this, he will be continuing in his role at the Pension Protection Fund (PPF) until the end of his current term in June.
Tim Jones, chief executive of the Personal Accounts Delivery Authority (Pada), said: "This is a further significant milestone towards delivering the scheme and is excellent news. Lawrence has extensive financial services experience including at Zurich and Natwest.
"Most recently, Churchill has been the chair of the Pensions Protection Fund, meaning that he also has invaluable experience in a non-departmental public body working closely with DWP. Both Jeannie Drake, Pada’s acting chair, and I have worked with him previously and believe this to be an excellent appointment."
