Employers in England are still not fully complying with the ban on smoking in workplaces and company vehicles, according to the Department of Health.

It has issued more than 6,646 warning letters to employers for not displaying the right signage in vehicles and workplaces since the ban was introduced last July.

Companies that are still not doing everything they can to prevent employees from smoking on work premises could face fines of up to £2,500 if they regularly flout the law, said Alison Love, a partner at Hugh James Solicitors.
