White & Case’s London office has extended its flexible benefits scheme to include learning accounts, pensions consultations, a bike-to-work-scheme and health screening.

The global law firm’s new learning accounts give employees the opportunity to sacrifice up to £50 gross a month from their salary which the firm will match with a 50% subsidy. The employee can then access the account at any point during the year and use the money to pay for a learning related activity. The options are wide ranging and vary from MBAs and language evening classes to hobbies such as cookery and scuba diving tuition.

Other additions include health screening, individual pension consultations for both new joiners and individuals looking for financial advice and a bike-to-work scheme.

Gareth Ashley-Jones, head of flexible benefits at the law firm's adviser Aon Consulting, said: “The main focus of the 2007 programme is on communicating existing benefits as a direct response to the internal research conducted, and also in well-being. It has already hit the mark with very positive employee feedback and employee take up.”

The extension of the scheme comes after a successful launch in 2006 which achieved more than 90% staff take-up.
