KPMG is to launch an alternative therapy service to encourage employees to take control of their own health and wellbeing while at work.
The accountancy firm will initially run a month-long pilot scheme for its 500 Watford-based staff. This is likely to take place within the next two months, to identify which of the proposed therapies are the most popular. The scheme will then be rolled out to all employees within six months.
Although KPMG has arranged competitive prices for treatments, staff will be offered free introductory therapies such as chair or head massages. The company plans to introduce more treatments as employees' understanding of alternative therapies increases.
Staff will be able to access treatment details, and book therapy sessions online.
Julie Bennett, UK health and wellbeing manager, said: "We want people to understand the benefits of alternative therapy, so staff will be able to book various types of treatment online. It will start in a concentrated area, because we thought it may be a bit overwhelming for staff to begin with, but we will broaden it out."
