There was a growing trend among finalists in the Employee Benefits Awards 2015 that demonstrated a points-scoring system to rate benefits in flex and voluntary packages, said John Mayor, head of UK rewards at Danone, in an interview with Robert Crawford, reporter at Employee Benefits.
He added the most innovative and fascinating voluntary benefit he come across was the introduction of offering vocational qualifications via salary sacrifice.
“It was very interesting to see employers using a scoring system,” said Mayor. “[Its] like online shopping and there was a lot of scoring of voluntary benefits introduced so that employees could rate their benefits. I thought that was fascinating. I would take this system back to my organisation as it gives you a feel to what employees want.”
He said that finalists also showed evidence of making a sustainable package using the savings provided by salary sacrifice benefits to help create a three-year strategy.
The 2015 winners will be announced during a lunch-time ceremony at the Artillery Garden at the HAC, London, on 12 June.
