The John Lewis Partnership (JLP) is to offer staff discounts on scooters to provide them with an alternative method of travelling to work following the introduction of London's congestion charge and the recent terrorist attacks.

It is also launching discounted wills and conveyancing services through solicitors Morley Mitchell as part of a refresh of its voluntary benefits scheme PartnerChoice.

Adam Brooke, PartnerChoice manager, said: "We have a huge difference in ages among our employees, but this is one of those products for everyone."

Other additions to JLP's package of voluntary benefits include a discount on BMW's mini and on Piaggio, Vespa and Gilera scooters.

Brooke added: "When we have so many partners working in the congestion zone in London, scooters are relevant as they are outside those fees. Other things have [also] been going on, such as the terrorist attacks with people saying that they are nervous about travelling on public transport."
