Stockport Council launches benefits intranet

Stockport Council has created a dedicated section on its intranet site for employee benefits, so that staff can easily access information about perks.

Although the council previously displayed information about its benefits on its intranet site, it was spread across the site and difficult for staff to find.

Now there is a page dedicated to perks, which is split into four sections, personal benefits, family, health and wellbeing, and discounts.

Personal benefits include the pension scheme and annual leave, family perks makes reference to flexible working, and health and wellbeing includes benefits such as counselling for staff.

Paul Whitney, pay and benefits manager at Stockport Council, explained: “Communication before was in a more disparate way. There were no headings or sections for benefits, so we have bought them all under one site and made them easier to understand for staff.”

The council has also launched a cycle to work scheme in an effort to promote health and wellbeing through encouraging staff to cylcle into the workplace.
