International private medical insurer InterGlobal has launched two new private medical insurance (PMI) plans designed especially for the African market.
The new plans are available either as individual or group schemes and offer two levels of cover.
The Africa UltraCare Standard Plan provides comprehensive cover against the cost of inpatient medical treatment, while members of the Africa UltraCare Select Plan also benefit from their choice of two levels of maternity cover, inclusive eye examinations and cover for Aids/HIV treatment without the standard four year waiting period.
Both plans also provide access to emergency medical evacuation and provide policy holders with access to a 24-hour helpline for personal security advice. In addition select options also offer immediate access to treatment for Aids and HIV.
Edward Daniels, business development manager, Africa, InterGlobal, said: "By offering cover tailored for the African continent, we are able to reduce the cost for members. In addition, with HIV/Aids being a fact of life in much of sub-Saharan Africa we have recognised that this is a genuine concern to many in the region. We have therefore provided immediate access to treatment with no waiting period on our Select Plan as an additional reassurance to members.”
