With more than 40 years’ experience in the industry, Scott’s most recent role was company secretary at Millennium and Copthorne Hotels, where he was responsible for administering the organisation’s employee share ownership scheme.

Prior to this, Scott held various positions within BT Group for more than 30 years, including director of corporate governance – Asia Pacific, where he developed a new corporate governance role that oversaw its employee share plan development.

During his time at BT Group, he was also responsible for overseeing the group’s shareholder services, and share plan administration and development.

His team oversaw the implementation of a number of high-profile and successful projects, including the roll out of e-communication procedures for all-employee share scheme launches and maturities.

The appointment follows the departure of John Collison, who had been head of employee share ownership for the past three years.

Scott said: “I have long been associated with IFS Proshare and have always been a key supporter of the important work it does in both promoting the industry to policymakers and making the voices of its members heard.

“This is an exciting opportunity and challenge, and I am looking forward to making what I hope will be a meaningful contribution for the industry at large and all of our members.”

Anne Kiem, chief information officer at IFS University College, added: “[Scott’s] years of experience in the employee share ownership industry will be invaluable in continuing IFS Proshare’s work in promoting the benefits of employee share ownership throughout the UK.

“Now is an exciting time for the industry as a whole, with both the introduction of increased monthly contribution limits and the cross-party support employee share ownership has gained in the run up to the election.”
